There is a convenient etched band around the second leg section that is used to quickly set up the tripod at the standard height (135cm) when the fourth leg section isn't extended. The centre boss has a convenient locking mechanism for the top plate that eliminates the need for tools, and there is a sprung security tab underneath that ensures the tripod head and top plate won't detach prematurely. The top plate has a Gitzo "Secure Lock" polymer pad to allow secure fixing of a tripod head without the need for clamping with screws (but there is a grub screw in case you do want to use it). This bag is long enough to accept the tripod even when fitted with a large tripod head such as the Manfrotto 405 geared head (The Gitzo G4101 bag isn't quite long enough).
