Tripod has had light use, as I have a 5 series Gitzo I use most the time. The Markins tripod base stiffens the Gitzo base plate and improves dampening and stability. The tripod base threads onto the Gitzo rapid column plate and has a spring loaded hook on the bottom. The Markins titanium spikes anchor the tripod better in any outdoor soft surface.The combination of the Markins tripod base and spikes provide the stiffest, most stable configuration you can get from this tripod.
